Affiliate disclosure

We believe you have the right to know how PuupNews stays in business and what that means for the recommendations on this site.

How we make money, in one paragraph

PuupNews is funded primarily by display advertising and a small number of affiliate partnerships with software vendors we already cover. When you click certain links on our site and end up purchasing a product, the vendor may pay us a small referral commission. The price you pay does not change. We do not accept payment in exchange for positive coverage. We do not let advertisers preview articles before they go live.

The rules we follow

Our four affiliate rules

Always disclosed

Where an article contains affiliate links, you will see a disclosure notice at the top of that article — not buried at the bottom in tiny grey text.

Editorially independent

Whether a vendor offers an affiliate program (or pays a higher commission than its competitors) has zero effect on whether we recommend it.

Same price for you

Affiliate links cost you nothing extra. The vendor pays us a small commission only if you decide the product is worth it.

You can opt out

Every affiliate link can be replaced by a direct visit to the vendor’s site. We will never gate the actual product information behind an affiliate redirect.

The fine print

Affiliate programs we participate in

PuupNews may participate in affiliate programs operated by software vendors and large affiliate networks (Amazon Associates, Impact, Commission Junction, ShareASale, vendor-direct programs).

Amazon Associates statement: as an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

Vendor-direct programs: a small number of VPN, Chrome extension, and AI tool vendors we recommend pay us a referral commission for users who click an affiliate link and decide, on their own, to purchase. The decision to recommend a product is made before the affiliate link is even checked.

Display advertising: we use Google AdSense and may use other display ad partners. These ads are clearly labelled and are not editorial content. We honour Google’s Consent Mode and your cookie choices.

What you’ll see

How affiliate links look in our articles

Articles that contain affiliate links open with a clearly visible notice. It looks something like this:

Disclosure

This article contains affiliate links. If you buy a recommended product through one of these links, PuupNews may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We chose every product based on testing, not affiliate payouts.

Affiliate links may also be tagged with rel="sponsored" in the HTML, which is the technical convention search engines look for.

Have a question about a specific link?

We are happy to confirm whether a particular link in any article is an affiliate link and what (if anything) we earn from it.
